You should be ready
to make an offer which considers wages, vacation/holidays, healthcare, overtime, etc. It is
very important that your nanny feel good about the offer. Nannies that feel taken advantage
of are less likely to feel obligated to treat your children well. Keep in mind that many
nannies are more than happy to trade higher wages for other considerations (e.g. looking
after one well behaved child often costs less in nanny wages than looking after several hell
raisers). Many families follow up an oral offer with a written contract. Although many
aspects of the job evolve, it can't hurt to document the basics. This becomes especially
true after the honeymoon phase and families and nannies are no longer on their best
behavior. Our lawyers prefer that we do not provide sample contracts at this time. However,
a quick Google search will yield many free sample nanny contracts.
